Latests

Hello everyone!

Been very busy lately, so have not been too focused on the blog! Have a temp job at the moment so coming home pretty late! Get back at 5.38pm and have to leave for meetings at 6.30 - what a rush! Had quite a few public holidays lately (which all my American friends miss out on I believe - nah nah, but then again from what I have heard, we are the only county that I know of that has as special magazine day on the first Saturday in April - go figure!), so decided to unpack the last of the boxes left from the move (No did not move recently - two years ago now - just the last "junk" boxes - you know which ones I mean). Took out all my old dolls, washed them and their clothes and Hunter found one of his baby growers (I've kept a few of their outfits) from when he was about 6 months old and put it on! It still kind of fits in a weird way. Was nice seeing all my childhood toys again - Barbie and "First Love" and the beautiful doll in a basket that my "Oma" made for me when I was 8 - not that my boys will get to play with it (not unless they want a fat smack - none of "that" in this house ) but maybe they will have daughters one day who will get to play with them. Poppy - our naughty dog (who loves to climb on the car roof to see what the neighbours are up to - for a long time we thought it was a giant cat!) has decided to bath when the boys do.....well seeing as though we have water restrictions at the moment, it's probably a good idea - although it is winter now and not too good for her to be wet , as well as the hygienic aspect of the boys and the dog in the bath at the same time.... It is also kind of messy although she does smell of "Pantene" when done! Her mom was a snow white boxer with a black patch over one eye and her dad a brindle staffie (pedigree!)....quite a mixture, but what an amazing dog! They were actually given away - we call her breed a "Boffie"! They should have bred more (although it was an "accident" they were not REALLY bred) - such personality and intelligence .... and soooo affectionate.
IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX!.............................

Travis and his uncle Richard are die hard formula one fans and last week brought out the beer as usual and had a fab time watching the race. BERND ... notice Trav is wearing the hat you got him.... its never off!! I also heard from John Chamen who saw this weblog and contacted me .. he is family (Tompie's cousin) Tompie was Travis's grandfather and Richard's father....so really great stuff! Any Hering's out there? Back to work tomorrow....can't believe the "easter" weekend went by so quickly. Anyway all keep well and hopefully my life will be more exciting soon! Hey if you all want to see something quite cute go to this site (I found it on radiohead's website - apparently Thom (lead singer) was looking for a drum set and came across this) Nothing special, just well done and cute... the kids loved it ! http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/drum.php

Bye till later. ME

Took Taylor and Hunter to see the Swedish Sailing Ship " Gotheborg" which has been in the harbour for a while. It's really an awesome ship with the most intricate rigging. It's a rebuild of a ship built in 1700. I was worried about being sea sick, but it was really calm - i've been aboard a military ship in Cape Town years ago which really rocked around. Kids had lots of fun although Taylor would not go below deck because the stairs/ladder were so steep - i found it pretty easy to get down face first - was pretty suprised! Travis and Hunter had spring rolls for lunch which were so oily - ugh! Taylor and I waited to get home before eating - we don't do the oily food! Check out the link for some of the pictures.
